NFL Week 4 Cheat Sheet
I have always enjoyed NFL Sundays.
I have always enjoyed NFL Sundays, when I could, with my Army buddies...even while deployed.
Old Dog Face Soldier from the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division stopped by the Hoosier on the Potomac headquarters late last Sunday night. Anthony Randall is an Army chaplain, and for some reason, always interested in HOTPO takes on football and keeping our friendship current. He probably sees me as fertile ground for his profession -- a sinner to save.
Anthony and I did a 15-month surge deployment together from March 2007 to May 2008. When we could make it happen, we would link up to watch NFL football in that some what constrained environment. Anthony is a great man, and the entire HOTPO staff loved hosting him again at the headquarters.
Remember, we are all a community here and the HOTPO headquarters is generally open for no-cost tours -- even if you show up after 9 p.m. on a Sunday night. I should have taken some photos yesterday as an impromptu Army at Buffalo and Syracuse at Clemson watch party broke out here with one gentleman showing up in a Mercedes and another riding up on a bike with a backpack full of beer. Oh, man, fall weekends are just the best!
Let's get to the NFL Week 3 Cheat Sheet.
Miami at New England (-6.5): New England has done this whole "look like a crumbling dynasty in September and then turn it on by October" bit before. -- PATRIOTS
Philadelphia (-3.5) at Tennessee: The Titans are 2-1, but have been generally unimpressive offensively (29th rated) while the defending champion Eagles got their star QB Carson Wentz back last week. -- EAGLES
Cincinnati at Atlanta (-4.0): Cincinnati will still be missing RB Joe Mixon for this second straight road game against a formidable NFC South team. -- FALCONS
Buffalo at Green Bay (-9.5): The Bills got a surprise road victory over the Minnesota Vikings last week, but a second straight trip to the Upper Midwest is going to be too much for rookie QB Josh Allen to handle. -- PACKERS
Tampa Bay at Chicago (-3.0): Chicago's 5th-rated defense led by LB Khalil Mack will put an end to the latest run of "Fitz-magic." -- BEARS
New York Jets at Jacksonville (-7.5): New York has lost two straight and rookie QB Sam Darnold faces his sternest test yet against the 4th-best defense in the league from Jacksonville. -- JAGUARS
Detroit at Dallas (-3.0): The Lions got a big victory last week over the Patriots, but they have the worst rushing defense in the NFL and now face RB Ezekiel Elliott who is averaging an incredible 5.7 yards per carry. -- DALLAS
Houston at Indianapolis (-1.0): There is a chance Indy QB Andrew Luck gets taken out on a gurney by halftime. -- TEXANS
New Orleans (-3.5) at New York Giants: New Orleans has been lighting some defenses up, and New York is averaging less than 20 point per game. -- SAINTS
Cleveland at Oakland (-3.0): The Browns got their first win in two seasons with a 21-17 victory over the Jets last week, but they might be exactly what the Raiders need to secure their first victory this this season. -- RAIDERS
Seattle (-3.0) at Arizona: I am going to keep saying this every week...the Cardinals are the worst team in the league. -- SEAHAWKS
San Francisco at Los Angeles Chargers (-10.5): San Francisco QB Jimmy Garappalo is out for the season which means they have no chance against Los Angeles. -- CHARGERS
Baltimore at Pittsburgh (-3.0): This AFC North rivalry features the top-rated Ravens defense against the 3rd-ranked Steelers offense. -- STEELERS
Kansas City (-4.5) at Denver: The 3-0 Chiefs already have impressive road wins against the Chargers and the Steelers as they head into Mile High to play a Broncos team coming of a 13-point loss to the Ravens. -- CHIEFS

Randall watches Sunday night football in Iraq with future HOTPO staff in the fall of 2007.
The little guy in my arms at the Kurth Brewery in Columbus, Wisconsin is the one wearing the Kurth Brewery sweatshirt (that he stole from me) in the first photo. That is us with John and Retta Kurth at the "brewery." Their son was another one of my great Army friends that didn't really care too much about watching the NFL, but would do it with me anyway.
